My Story

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

I am raising funds, in memory of my mom, Donna Fietta, an elementary school teacher for 35 years. For four years she fought her own battle... for her "other kids" who didn't even make it to high school, & for all the aspiring young school teachers, fighting just to graduate themselves.

This year (2025), the challenge, the training & fundraising, in all honesty, is having a positive effect on my mental health. To have the privilege of serving others, & helping wherever I can give back fills me with humility & gratitude. It's the lift & motivation I need to rise from a long, dark depression.

The funds raised through my challenge will be a drop in the bucket needed to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer, so please help me exceed my goal. Push me hard, join me for a ride! Maybe the dollar you contribute to my goal will be the one that pays for the cure!
