I'm Riding For

Debra Meisner

Debra Meisner (left) is a family friend. This year I'm dedicating my ride to her struggles and recoveries with cancer. When Deb turned 45 in 2000, her doctor discovered she had breast cancer. After a challenging recovery process including Lumpectomy surgery, they thought it was gone. 9-months later in 2001, the cancer was back in the same spot and she had a mastectomy with 12 sessions of chemo, followed by radiation and left breast reconstructed. She ended up with Lymphoma in her left arm arm and heavy swelling. She's very thankful to get through it. Fast forward to 2017, Deb found out she had cancer in the lining of her uterus resulting in Hysterectomy and radiation. She was hopeful all was clear when in 2022 she came down with breast cancer yet again in her right side resulting in another Lumpectomy and radiation. Now in 2024 and for her 5th bout of cancer, Deb is fighting for another chance with esophagus and liver cancer. She's on her 5th chemo treatment and several more rounds of chemo to go... Despite her health conditions, there is good news. Deb and her partner Lea decided to get married on June 7th 2024 (See photo). Lee proposed during the solar eclipse! Our family is praying for Deb's condition to improve and we are hopeful she will recover yet again.
