My Story

I love cycling and I love that I can use my cycling as a way to raise funds to help children in their fight against cancer. Why? Because cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Canada. So, this August, I’ll be riding to end childhood cancer and save little lives. Every hill I climb and every kilometre I ride will be to honour those lives we've lost and stand with those brave kids still fighting to survive. These kids won't give up, and neither will I. Because kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.

My profile shows I have a 5 year legacy, I have tried to participate in this ride every year since my first ride in 2019, when I rode 1,008 kms in 28 days, I even broke my 20 year old personal best for a single ride in a day, riding 121 kms. But my 31 day ride was cut short with 3 days left to ride, after I got a concussion in an unrelated incident. The following year while getting back in shape for this ride I suffered a 2nd concussion and a broken rib due to a cycling accident that I believe was caused by my 1st concussion, which, in spite of trying to get back on my bike, put and end to my riding until 2024, when I took on and completed the challenge again, riding 768 km!

And here we are, it's 2025, I’ve had a new health issue this past year but I’m not going to let it stop me from riding in this challenge. I only got 4 practice rides in leading up to this ride, the weather and poor air quality mostly was to blame. I lost one day this month due to smoke, which I'll make up for by doing two rides on one day over the weekend. You'll notice my rides are all Ride 66 - #, myself and two friends were thinking of driving Route 66 this year, to celebrate that the 3 of us turned 66 this year, we decided against it, for obvious reasons, so I'm calling this ride Ride 66! I hope you'll support me on this ride!!
