I have participated in the great cycle challenge since my sister was an ambassador for GCC in 2018 while she battled her cancer for a 3rd time; she is now 16 and is battling cancer for the 9th time.

She was diagnosed with high risk acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the age of 3. She relapsed when she was 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, and three times when she was 15. Her most recent relapse was on November 29th 2024, less than a week before her 16th birthday. The cancer returned while her treatment was paused for blood count recovery. Sarah has had numerous challenges with her most recent relapse, including bone marrow failure caused by chemotherapy.

She has had at lot of chemotherapy, targeted radiation, total body radiation, craniospinal radiation, a bone marrow transplant, a stem cell transplant, 2 CAR-T treatments, and a couple different immunotherapy treatments.

She is currently in treatment in preparation for her to be the first child to have a new CD22 CAR-T phase I clinical trial at SickKids.

This summer I hope to be able to ride as much as possible to help other kids like my sister.
