Auntie Portia

My auntie Portia was one of the strongest women I knew. She was always in the best spirits and never backed down from a challenge sharing this fighting spirit and joy with everyone in the room. In 2022 she was diagnosed with cancer and passed away last July. I was away for university and never really got the chance to process it, say my goodbyes and honour Portia who was a huge part of my childhood. I remember fondly our ski trips every March break to Mont Blanc, Christmas dinner at their house, swimming in their pool with my cousins, the loving company of one of the first dogs I knew: Pepper and so much more. Family times were always the best when you were around brightening up the room with your laugh and smile, and your love will always be with me in memory. I am so lucky to have had you as an aunt and role model, your passion for your career and dedication to family will forever be an inspiration. That’s why I am taking part in the Great Canadian Cycle Challenge in loving memory of Auntie Portia and everyone else that has been affected by cancer. I will be cycling 1km for every dollar raised in the month of August I would love all of your support to help me reach my goal and reach all those individuals and families struggling with the effects of cancer out there.
