This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because no child should miss out on their childhood. I’ll be riding for Little Ms.P who was diagnosed with ALL ( Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) just before her second birthday in 2020.

Little Ms.P is the same age as my daughter and yet has had a very different childhood experience. Since almost the age of two, Ms.P’s childhood has consisted of long stays at Sick Kids hospital and many frequent trips back and forth to the hospital. At almost four, things were looking up. Ms.P went on her first trip out west and celebrated her 4th birthday at home. Ms.Ps recovery was going well. Just after her 4th birthday, On May 20th 2022 they went to sick kids for a routine lumbar puncture with chemo in her spine. This happens every 3 months in the maintenance phase of treatment. That day they found out Ms.P had blasts in her spinal fluid, and that meant she was relapsing. The leukemia was back.

Through more testing, it was determined she had some leukemia in her bone marrow as well.

Ms.P was an inpatient for a couple of months this past fall when she had intense chemotherapy, immunotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant.

After keeping a close eye on her health, I’m happy to say that little Ms.P is at home and is thriving.
