Breanna Plourde

Each August I ride in Memory of a young, beautiful soul....Breanna Plourde. Her family lost her 5 years ago, February 4, 2020 at the age of 27. Breanna courageously fought a battle against osteosarcoma. Although the sun has set on Breanna, the memory of that energetic smile, the love she had for others, the positivity she radiated, and the love everyone has for her will keep her memory alive with every sunrise.

My Story

This is my 10th year Riding to Fight Kids’ Cancer with Great Cycle Challenge for SickKids Foundation.

The Great Cycle Challenge Canada is a national SickKids Foundation fundraising initiative held throughout August.

All funds raised go to support the work of SickKids Foundation to provide care, develop treatments and find a cure for childhood cancers.

Cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Today, over 83% of pediatric patients will survive their cancer. And every day the GFCC (Garron Family Cancer Centre) is coming closer to closing the gap between detection and treatment – between the ability to determine the genetic factors of cancer, and the ability to deliver faster, personalized, and more effective treatment options.

We are not just taking the fight to one type of kids’ cancer – our mission is to find a cure for all cancers to ensure Healthier Kids Have Brighter Futures.

Our Vision is a world without cancer where all kids are living life, not fighting for it.

My Map My Ride app by Outside stopped mapping my ride after I paused it when I stopped for a break half way. Can only put one pic in the blog so the map should say 51.18km.

This heat needs to go though. Don't see a 100km ride if this heat stays. It gets too warm after 10am.

On average, approx, 25% of the 1,700 children who are diagnosed with cancer each year are treated at the Garron Family Cancer Center.

I'm Riding 350km & Raising $2,500 to support research to develop treatments, provide care, and ultimately find a cure for Kids' and all cancers.

And my challenge starts NEXT WEEK.

My 350km challenge will be tough, but it's nothing compared to what these brave kids and their families face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease.

Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.

Please support my challenge to help the Garron Family Cancer Centre provide care, develop new treatments and to end childhood cancer and save little lives.

I just signed up for my 10th year to ride with Great Cycle Challenge to Help Fight Kids' Cancer for Sickkids' Foundation.

I will be Riding 350km (plus the % over my Hero's Goal I receive), and I am Raising $2,500.

I hope I can reach, go over, or smash my Hero's Goal.

Our wish is that one year we All will be riding to celebrate the Cure for Kids', and all, Cancers.
