My Labour of Love riding for these kids is over for yet another year.
It wasn't easy for me, it gets harder every year, but they're worth it.
We must cure childhood cancer.
We stand taller when we stoop to help a child.
Love,
Lori.
Gotta get my clicks in now.
83 km left to do and 3 days to do it.
Yikes!
124 km left to go in my pledge and 8 days to do it.
I took a few days off for R&R with some amazing women who feed my soul.
Now it's all about me finishing my promise to the Kids.
BTW i received my Hero jersey this week. Will post my pic shortly.
In the meantime. Heres my ride and a boat. Too bad its not a McKeil
Stay tuned my lovely supporters!
Thank you to the Garron family and all of my loyal supporters like you who helped me to exceed my goal of $2500. It seems daunting to me each year when I set my goals in, but every year you help me and every year I do my 300k.
The main reason is that this hospital and these kids keep setting goals and working hard, so I do too.
Love, Lori.
Here's today's pic.
As you know, our wonderful supporters, the Garron Family were personally matching donations up to $1,300,000...
And as outlined when we announced this amazing pledge, if we were to reach the $1,300,000 limit we'd distribute the matched donations across all your pages, based on a percentage of what you raised over the one day of Kick Cancer's Butt Day. This is the fairest way to ensure that everyone who made the effort, gets the reward. 😊
But unfortunately, this does mean that we can't match all donations completely, so you'll receive a portion of the $1,300,000 based on the total you raised. I'll explain the calculation...
$1,300,000 / $1,890,417 = 68.77% - so we've matched 68.77% of the total you raised on Kick Cancer's Butt Day and added this to your fundraising page.
This is the fairest way to ensure EVERYONE is rewarded for their efforts to kick cancer's butt. I wish we could match every single donation but the response was just so incredible.
We've totalled all donations made through the site on Wednesday, August 13, across ALL Canadian time zones.
You can now view my matched donation on your fundraising page.
POV from the St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre
Today was a sight seeing ride with my team (Cathy), staying off the busy main roads to meet friends for brunch.
Life is good. My grandson's birthday was yesterday. My grandchildren are healthy and happy, playing baseball and hockey and gymnastics and swimming.
I want all children to be as happy as they are.
Let's keep this going.
You will feel better once you reach down in your pocket to help another child.
Please donate to this worthy cause.
Here's another pic I took yesterday.
Cancer hurts everybody in the family of the person it touches.
Not only do we hurt for our loved one, we lose out on time together, time having fun, time just goofing off.
Little kids don't understand why mom and dad are too busy to play, parents don't have enough time to share.
It's a terrible disease that causes so much trauma.
It must be stopped.
Remember to hug your family.
Took a pic of my trusty steed while enjoying the view.
