Sophia MacInnis
In August 2022 Sophia MacInnis a Grade 5 Student of Cavalier Drive Elementary School was diagnosed with a form of Terminal Childhood Brain Cancer called DIPG. Sophia faced her illness head on and never felt sorry for herself. She was a brave 10-year-old who captivated people all over the world with her strength and positivity. Throughout her illness she always wanted to give back to people. By joining the Great Cycle Challenge and The East Coast Cruisers, you too can support the fight against kids’ cancer and show your Strength and Positivity with each kilometer covered.

Big, No, HUGE NEWS!
So Glad you all re-joined our Team! First 2, then 5, then 7 & Now 15 of "The East Coast Cruisers" Team Members are coming back!
Hope you can make it to the Annual "EAST COAST CRUISERS" Team ride, MEET & GREET, GRILL & CHILL, Sat Aug 16th. 2025! We had a crew from as far away as St. John New Brunswick travel down and join in, last year, it was great!
10am departure from the CFB Shearwater Flyers Trail Parking lot, on Swordfish dr..
*Any Team Mates & Friends and Family that wish to join us, are Invited!
*You can do a Full Ride, 38kms Out and Back?
and or,
*pick up the Trail at any of 6 parking lots right on the trail!
Choose from a 3km return Ride, all the way up to a full 38 km return ride from CFB Shearwater / SWORDFISH Dr. Parking Lot, at the beginning of the Shearwater Flyers Trail. I will be there at 9 am getting our bikes ready for the Full return Trip out to Lawrence Town Beach and Back.
** I would expect a 10am Departure heading out and arriving by approx. 11:30 AM ish.
Meeting up with Team mates at each trail side parking lot along the 19kms out there.
Those that head out to Lawrence Town Beach will be Welcomed to our Annual TEAM- GRILL & CHILL / MEET & GREET- BBQ Event! Where we will gather together and share our stories, chatting and laughing, while enjoying a BBQ Treat, then Grab our Annual Team Pic's on the Beach & Boardwalk! and then after a bit, some of us, begin the 19km return ride back to CFB Shearwater.
***TOTAL FULL RIDE TIME; 10am to 11:30am to Lawrence Town Beach
***BBQ, Meet & Greet, Grill & Chill, Social & Team Pics 11:30am to 1pm ish
***Return 19kms Ride back to CFB Shearwater arriving approx. 2pm to 2:30pm ish.
***None of this is set in STONE, This is a Fun Social GRILL & CHILL Team Building Reward Day!
Times are a rough guide as witnessed at last years event! We had a couple Bike Malfunctions(Tires Flats/Chains off/Derail-er Issues), and unexpected Off the Trail detours which took extra time to keep us together as a group. Experienced riders took The Lead and helped out to keep us moving along, Ryan & Larry did repair work and even rescued a rider who's bike experienced multiple failures all at once and required a ride back to her car in CFB Shearwater! Great Job Guys!

***REMEMBER*** You can meet us at any of the many parking lots along the Shearwater Flyers trail on our way out to, or Back from Lawrence Town Beach.
This is what makes this stretch of trail so great for all rider levels from 3yrs old to 80yrs old!
******You Pick a ride from as short as 1kms to 38kms, what ever you are able or feel like doing!****** No Pressure!
